This piece is a version of “The Son of Man” by René Magritte with my self-portrait appearing behind the bitten apple.
It's my visual representation of misogyny and women's internalised guilt. I’ve used the bitten apple as a symbol of 'sinner' and of the sexist prejudices that hide the real face of women. The strike to the chest refers to the inner war that women suffer when cultural misogyny has been interiorized.
This was my submission to the “About Women” International Mail Art Project created by Katia Muñoz (@art_katia_munoz). On this occasion, the theme was “Women at War”.
It was exhibited at Studio 40, Contemporary Arts Centre, in Wales, UK, from 16th July - 27th August 2022.

Esta ilustración es una versión del "Hijo del Hombre" de René Magritte con mi autorretrato detrás de la manzana mordida.
Es una representación simbólica de la misoginia y de la culpa interiorizada de las mujeres. La manzana mordida simboliza el 'pecado' y los prejuicios sexistas que se le atribuyen a las mujeres. El puño que golpea el pecho se refiere a la lucha interna que sufren las mujeres que han interiorizado la misoginia.
Esta fue mi participación en el Proyecto Internacional de Arte Postal "Sobre las Mujeres", creado por Katia Muñoz (@art_katia_munoz). En esta ocasión el tema era "Mujeres en Guerra / en la Guerra".
Fue expuesta en una exposición colectiva en Studio 40, Contemporary Arts Centre, en Gales, Reino Unido, del 16 de julio al 27 de agosto del 2022.
